Beginning of the Trip to LA

Leaving tonight for LA. Dad has an 8:30 a.m. post-op appointment before the surgery (which is 2/4). Should be fun. The nurse that called for the necessary information kept asking why he's having open-heart surgery when he doesn't have a bad heart. Duhhh!!!

I hate explaining to medical personnel what an aorta is and that it isn't a heart. It connects to the heart. No, dad doesn't have shortness of breath, chest pains, etc. He just has a bad spot on his aorta that could burst if it isn't fixed.

Oh, well. Will keep everyone updated as it goes. Tonight, fun trip to LA. Tomorrow more information. We did find out that they will be replacing part of his aorta. Dad seems to think that that means it's leaking, but I'm not so sure. So there is controversy there. We'll know tomorrow. We also meet with his surgeon in the afternoon.
